Chief Electrician

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

Ø       Must have STCW 95 Certification

Ø       Holds appropriate licenses and certificates as required by
             regulations.

Ø       Applications: Windows XP, including Word, Excel

SOME POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø      The Chief Electrician is responsible to the First Engineer for electrical equipment, tools and test instruments, power generators, distribution panels/switchboards, power supply to motor controllers, pumps, electrical and electronic equipment.

Ø      Repair and maintain electrical equipment such as generators, alternators, motors and inter-communication system aboard the vessel, i.e., telephone system.

Ø      Responsible for being present in the control room during all standby and maneuvering periods.

Ø      Adjust controls at the distribution board to maintain electrical load within capacity of the generators.

Ø      Perform routine tests to insure electric motors are driving pumps, blowers, and refrigeration machinery.

Ø       Perform routine tests on wiring for short circuits.

Ø      Conduct maintenance and repair of Electrical Steering system, overloads, motor controllers and related electrical circuits.

Ø       Responsible for their areas safety, cleanliness and operation.

Ø       Attend all department meetings.

Ø       Maintain all emergency power systems

Ø       Mandatory attendance at all assigned shipboard drills and emergency activities.

Ø      Create and implement ideas that will generate/increase revenue and/or reduce costs to the company.

Ø       Other related duties as assigned.
