2nd Engineer

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE

Ø       Must have STCW 95 Certification

Ø       Holds appropriate licenses and certificates as required by regulations.

Ø       Applications: Windows XP, including Word, Excel

SOME POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Ø       The Second Engineer is responsible to the First Engineer for watches, scheduling work for engine personnel, equipment and supplies in the Engine Room.

Ø       Stand Engine Room Watches to the Chief Engineer’s Standing Orders, the Company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and the Seafarer’s Training, Certification and Watchkeeping Code (STCW).

Ø      Responsible for work schedules of engine personnel and maintenance of the machinery, auxiliaries, equipment and supplies in the engine room, deck and other machinery.

Ø       Report directly to the First Engineer and is responsible for the discipline of the engine hands.

Ø      Responsible for the safety, cleanliness and operation of their area.

Ø       Attend all department meetings.

Ø      Mandatory attendance at all assigned shipboard drills and emergency activities.

Ø       Create and implement ideas that will generate/increase revenue and/or reduce costs to the company.

Other related duties as assigned.
